Desislava Antonova Ivanova obtained her doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Parallel Computer Systems, Complexes and Networks at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 2014.
She is an Assistant Professor at the Computer Systems Department for the period 2008 – 2016. From March 2017, Desislava Ivanova is an Assistant Professor and from May 2018 she is Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Informatics, Technical University of Sofia. From July 2023 Desislava Ivanova is a full Professor in Informatics and computer science. Since December 2019, prof. Desislava Ivanova is a Dean of Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at the Technical University of Sofia.
From 2005 to 2007, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Kaiserslautern University, Germany in Agent based Automation Systems Group headed by prof. Georg Frey.
From August 2011 to January 2012, she was a Visiting Faculty at the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Computer Science School, Software Engineering Institute, Group of prof. David Garlan, Director of Software Engineering Professional Programs.
From July 2022, Desislava Ivanova is the Central Point of Contact of AWS Academy for Technical University of Sofia.
Desislava Ivanova is the author of 80 scientific publications. She has participated in over 25 research projects at National and European level in the field of massive parallelization for supercomputers, big data analytics and supercomputer architectures and applications: ERASMUS, PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), Center of Excellence for Supercomputer Applications.
She is a member of the Informatics Europe, DAAD Alumni, Union of Automation and Informatics, IEEE and ISR Network, at the Carnegie Mellon University.
Desislava Ivanova is currently working in the field of Parallel Computer Architectures, High-Performance Computing, Massive Parallelization for Supercomputers, System Area Networks, Parallel Algorithms, In-Situ Visualization, Computer Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Metaheuristics, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things and Industrial Informatics.
